And today’s story?
Let’s just say… it has a lot of personality — and paint.
It all started with some t-shirts
A few days before our Christmas pop-up event in a shopping center in Palma, we had a simple but exciting idea: we wanted to surprise our community with something creative and very KUMI.
So, we started searching for an artist who could customize t-shirts live at the event. And after scrolling through Instagram… we found him.
Sergi Solé.
Illustrator, painter, and all-around authentic human.
From the very first message, we clicked. His energy, his creative process, and the way he approached art felt like the perfect match for us.
When the event came, it was even better than we imagined.
Sergi painted live, adding messages and illustrations that captured the KUMI spirit. People stopped, watched, smiled, filmed. It brought something raw, inspiring, and real to the whole experience.
And even though we didn’t know it at the time — that was just the beginning.
A surprise we didn’t see coming
Months later, we were getting ready to celebrate KUMI’s 4th anniversary, and we knew we wanted to do something different. Something that felt truly special.
That’s when the idea hit us:
What if our sneakers became a piece of art?
We called Sergi and invited him to co-create a one-of-a-kind pair of KUMIs. He welcomed us into his studio, and together we planned the concept, filmed the process, and talked about colors, textures, and personality — because this wasn’t just any pair. It was going to be a gift.
We launched a giveaway for our community… and the winner was María.
Sergi went above and beyond. He learned what María liked, what inspired her, and created something deeply personal. A custom sneaker that told a story.
A sneaker with soul (and a whole lot of art)
After weeks of work (and layers of paint that needed time to breathe), we finally got the message:
“The KUMIs are ready.”
And because this wasn’t just another drop, we didn’t want to reveal them with just a photo.
We went live.
No one — except Sergi — had seen the final result until that moment. Not even us.
It was raw, real, and unforgettable.
A few days later, María wrote to us.
She was thrilled. The sneakers had arrived, and she loved them.
And honestly? We weren’t surprised.
Because they weren’t just sneakers.
They were a work of art.
Sometimes, the most “outstanding” moments are unplanned
To us, this story is more than a campaign or a limited edition.
It’s about what happens when two paths cross in the most genuine way.
Because building something meaningful means staying open — to new ideas, to people, to things you didn’t plan for.
And at KUMI, we truly believe that the most outstanding things in life…
are the ones that happen naturally.
